Sandy Forsyth
My name is Sandy Forsyth and owner of Forsyth Fitness. I’m here to help people get strong, lose weight and build confidence.
I have been personal training for over a decade and throughout this time I have had the pleasure of working with some fantastic people who have made incredible transformations- See their success stories here.
Working with people of all levels and abilities has allowed me to develop my knowledge and skills to deliver a professional, bespoke training service in the Edinburgh area to help as many people as I possibly can achieve the results they’ve always wanted.
SPORTING BACKGROUND
My interest in sport and being physically active developed from a young age, I was always hyperactive so, in an attempt to use my excess energy I began boxing at the age of 9, I was fortunate enough in my time to represent Scotland in various international tournaments and travelled around the world. Leaving boxing behind was a tough step for me, it was everything for 10 years of my life but I learned a lot of lessons and I'm ever grateful for all the experiences and continue to coach boxing personal training sessions as part of my services.
Upon leaving boxing I wanted a career, not a 'job', I needed to feel passionate about whatever I put my hand to and training was pretty much all I was interested in. I enrolled at Edinburgh's Telford College to study fitness, health and exercise and I’ve never looked back.
PROFESIONAL DEVELOPMENT
I studied for 3 years and throughout this time I was allowed to take an additional course to gain my CYQ certificate, which I grabbed with both hands.
After graduating and working in a few different gyms over the years, I wanted to develop my knowledge and skills further so I began looking for an opportunity to work alongside a strength and conditioning coach, I was lucky enough to be selected as an intern and got to work with a baseball development squad in Canada. This is where I really developed my understanding of strength-based exercise and its importance on performance.
After completing my internship I returned to Edinburgh and it was here that I started my own company - Forsyth Fitness.
I have been a personal trainer in Edinburgh for over a decade and I’m currently based in Meadowbank Sports Centre. It’s a brand-new facility with excellent equipment and a fantastic set-up for me and my clients. With on-site parking and no requirement for membership, the place couldn’t be more convenient to make training hassle-free.
Today I continually look to develop in any way possible so I regularly attend seminars and read articles/books to further my career advancement and provide the best possible service to everyone I work with.
